They going to wear this throwback uniforms against the Redskins.
So this is the weekend. Back in April, the Steelers (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/PIT/pittsburgh-steelers) unveiled their new (old) throwback uniforms. As you can see, there are a lot of stripes -- and not the flattering kind. We don't say this because they're horizontal but because they're hideous.
Whatever, this is football, not Project Runway, and when the Redskins (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/WAS/washington-redskins) come to Heinz Field Sunday they'll see 45 grown men dressed in what looks like -- to borrow team president Art Rooney II's words -- "a prison uniform (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/18626511/steelers-unveil-80th-anniversary-throwback-uniforms)."
The Steelers last wore this get-up in 1934. Miraculously, no one burned all evidence of them the moment the season ended. Seventy-eight years later, Rooney says (http://www.steelers.com/news/article-1/Steelers-Unveil-Throwback-Jersey/2f1ff7f3-4584-4a7f-afe3-cc918b98f6a9) he thinks "fans will be excited to see our players wear them in action this year."
Uh huh.
Silver lining: If the Steelers can't stop Robert Griffin III by conventional means (like, say, tackling, something they've struggled with this season), there's a decent chance he suffers vertigo from staring at these jerseys for any length of time. So there's that.
OUCH!! Steelers vs Redskins. Be sure to wear your 3-D glasses. (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/20670011/steelers-to-wear-1934-throwback-uniforms-against-redskins-sunday)
