....I am doing what I almost never do: Finishing off the last of a bottle of Manischewitz. I'm really burned out on politics at the moment and I never want to hear about 9/11/01 ever again. With any luck, my heart won't go nuts and I'll live to see morning, but I hope to fall asleep into bliss and have my dreams unmolested by thoughts of Paul Ryan and the GOP and planes crashing into buildings, and hopefully totally molested by... maybe P!nk or Lily Allen?

Actually the direct translation of Manischewitz comes from the Greek word "ἀγωνι", which loosely translates to "Man am I Shist-faced".

P!ink would be a wild ride, but I think I'd rather get jiggy with Lily.

Yeah, I could roll with that except one thing... We've used the death of 3,000 to justify the death and torture of millions. Fuck that.

If you ever watched the recent Robin Hood series out of the UK with Jonas Armstrong, Keith Allen who played an absolute mental Sheriff of Nottingham is her dad.

She doesn't look that much like what you see in the media. She's fairly average. At least she was when I passed her on The Bowery a few months ago. Lives in the area as does Kate Perry.

I would have bypassed the Manichewitz and gone straight for the vodka.

Does a Rum & Coke Zero taste the same as a Rum & Coke?

Close enough for me, but I do prefer Diet Pepsi with whatever rotgut rum I can get for $9/half gallon.

Fuck that.I am in agreement with you of the stuff that happened after 9/11. I was merely responding to the thread title that you started with out regard to what happened later.

No but if you've ever order a glass of ''house wine'' at a restaurant then that's exactly what that is. The recipe for Manischewitz (sp) was developed long ago and was considered a ''family wine'' to be shared with all family members during appropriate religious or family occasions.
I may need some correction from a real practitioner of the Hebrew faith.

From my childhood:

Robin Hood, Robin Hood
Riding through the grapes
Robin Hood, Robin Hood
With his band of apes.
Feared by the animals
Loved by the cannibals

"I may need some correction from a real practitioner of the Hebrew faith."

Not really, Manifashoefits is advertized as a family wine and is Kosher but the Ashkenazi are forbidden corn on Passover. Here's where sugar comes in, it's made from labruska grape juice, (where they get concord I don't know) corn syrup and grain alcohol but for Passover cane sugar is substituted. With seltzer and ice it makes a great spritzer on a hot summer day. We sell no wine before it's time but Man-O-Manischewitz, we sell that dreck any time!
