Amazon is releasing their new Kindle e-Reader. This release is ahead of the iPad Mini (which has a 7" screen like the Kindle and the Barnes and Noble Nook).
Amazon.com is firing up interest in its latest hardware at an event in Santa Monica, Calif., today. USA TODAY's Ed Baig is reporting from the scene.
Heavy speculation is that Amazon will unveil a new version of its popular 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet, and perhaps a larger-screen tablet as well. Amazon is also expected to refresh its Kindle eBook readers, likely with a model to compete against the read-in-the-dark Barnes & Noble Nook with Glow Light.
Being updated as it happens right now at posting time.
