And, for my friend Ernie, it's the best time of year. He was up at the annual reunion (this was the 43rd) of that miracle that happened up in Bethel, NY in '69 and he reports that the spiritual nourishment that he always benefits from is still as strong and vibrant as ever.

He reported that while sitting around the campfire, camping out and enjoying the idyll - like country side up there in Sullivan Co., he kept thinking, "This is how life oughta be all the time." Well...not going to happen anytime soon, but that's OK. The nourishment one gets there lasts all year (or, if ya gotta miss one, til the next time you can make it.)

Facts about those reunions....

Everybody is welcome and invited. You'll be loved just for showing up.

You will be camping amongst some of the best people anywhere in some very, very beautiful scenery.
Costs are very, very reasonable.

They happen every year, even tho it's hard to find info on the web.

They are very, very family friendly. Always see many family groups, extended and otherwise, and the kids LOVE it there.

It's the kind of even where you can walk up to any campfire, hang out with the people and meet friends and family you haven't met yet. It's all about sharing.

So, OK, I just made a few sweeping generalizations there without offering any evidence that support them. I can supply the BEST evidence there could ever be. Question the veracity of what I say? Easy to prove -- just show up. It might take you all of about 5 minutes to realize what I say is factual. So there! :neener: C'mon out. Guaranteed you'll have a great time.

Nah.

What I want to know is, did you hang onto the Who's helicopter as it flew off?

(2 extra points if you get the reference to the reference)

From Parenthood (1989):
Julie (https://forums.hamisland.net/name/nm0000588/): [door slams as Tod leaves after having a fight with Julie] If he thinks I'm having his baby now, he's crazy!
Helen (https://forums.hamisland.net/name/nm0001848/): [shocked] Baby?
George Bowman (https://forums.hamisland.net/name/nm0512912/): Your daughter's having a baby?
Helen (https://forums.hamisland.net/name/nm0001848/): [even more shocked] A baby?
George Bowman (https://forums.hamisland.net/name/nm0512912/): You're going to be a grandma?
Helen (https://forums.hamisland.net/name/nm0001848/): [laughs incredulously] No, no, no, no. I'm too young to be a grandmother. Grandmothers are old. They bake, and they sew, and they tell you stories about the Depression.
[shouts]
Helen (https://forums.hamisland.net/name/nm0001848/): I was at Woodstock, for Christ's sake! I peed in a field! I hung on to The Who's helicopter as it flew away!
[gestures wildly]
George Bowman (https://forums.hamisland.net/name/nm0512912/): I was at Woodstock.
Helen (https://forums.hamisland.net/name/nm0001848/): [shouts] Oh yeah? I thought you looked familiar!

The only people hanging onto a helicopter that I can recall is the scene in Apocolypse now.

BTW....what was the "Nah" in your first reply referring to? Don't recall asking a question.

No, you didn't miss it. There are woodstock-like gatherings all over the country and happen pretty regularly. And, there's the event in Bethel every year. It's still very, very alive and very very well and getting better all the time.

I knew it. You know what it is is that we both are loyal fans or Ronnie and Tricky Dick and his sidekick Spiro.
