Where did you find the thing? I've tried to track this down to find out if it's real or not; it's pretty convincing but some people are very good at faking videos. No luck at www.jj.am but I didn't examine every page since were several hundred of them and I don't care all that much.

If that's real, the guy is truly lucky he's wearing a vest. He should also be in prison for a very, very long time.

Yeah, but it will mean one less kid on your lawn in a few years.

Seriously, I stepped through the GIF frame by frame and there's no sign of any actual injury done to the guy by the shot. Of course, that's not conclusive but it does raise some red flags.

Reminds me of an EMS call I went on in the 90's. Kid's parents went to Sturgis, left the kid home alone to fend for herself. Being the good parents they were, they left her a pistol to defend herself with should the need arise. Kid took a gig baby sitting to earn some cash and the kid she was sitting for got his hands on the gun and promptly managed to shoot himself in the face, removing a fair portion of jaw. He lived. Haven't seen him in years now. Not a pretty sight, and still one of those that I occasionally get to recall at night when I'm sleeping.

Yeah, looks as if it's for real. Happened in Aleppo, Syria, which is kind of weird considering how much that place has been in the news lately.

I want to know why the camera person didn't put down the camera and stop this from happening in the first place. Instead I guess it was "Oh hey! This oughtta be epic. Let's make sure we catch this on video!"

The camera person probably thought the gun was in a safe state. Always taught from day one, "There is no such thing as an unloaded gun. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded no matter what."

The sad part is that the guy didn't get shot until after he'd already reproduced, nullifying the natural selection aspect of the event.
