Is it self programming by region?

Yes! And it has the latest complete database. Good question.... most folks give you a blank look when you try to explain it.

The manual is here: http://www.radioshack.com/graphics/uc/rsk/Support/ProductManuals/2000107_PM_EN.pdf in case you'd like to take a look.

Hi Bob,

I'm not sure how I missed your reply........I'm slow I guess.

Tell me about your meters. Am I looking for anything in particular? Not really, just amateur gear that I can use. I could use a mic mixer.... nothing fancy.

I'll try to keep an eye on this thread so I don't overlook any more replies.

No Problems im as slow as they get HIHI they are both heathkit one is an hm-102 and the other is the 2102 the latter is for vhf and the former hf. both look and work well in the case of the 102 i built it as a teenager for my electronics class in high school. I just have too many meters around here and not enough room HIHI.

Hmmm... tempting, but I have an unreasonable dislike of Heathkit green.

Thanks for your offer!

I could use a PS, but 14A is probably too small. Tell me more about your power supply...... meanwhile, I'm going to look around the shack here and see if I have some trading fodder. If I can find something worthwhile maybe we could include the scanner plus what I can dig up to make a worthwhile swap towards your TS-440SAT.

now theres a good idea if you have a nice general coverage receiver id be interested in swapping the ts 440 for it and the scanner let me know what you come up with.
