Thanks guys. I'm having beer along with crackers, cheese and very spicy mustard (like the ones you get from the chinese restaurant).

It's nice being 39 again. ;)

Chinese mustard? 39 again? I think that translates into the number of hours you will be on the throne, screaming.

Happy Birthday, before the hollering starts.

Thanks guys, you are making this Natal Anniversary more painless than it usually is. Having the last of the beers and getting ready to rest the Old and Weary bones from another day of pain. :)

Well, I have moved from the Big Apple to the Poughkeepsie area. It is farm country and in the middle of nowhere, but it's quiet and the air is clean. No more crowded buses and subways, and no more of Millionaire Mogul Mike's edicts. Just finishing up getting settled here, even the FCC ULS has been updated. Interestingly, there is as much security up here as there is in NYC. But there is room to breathe and the prices are almost reasonable. Certainly much more than The City. The bridge in my sig is the Mid-Hudson bridge and recently it was played as a musical instrument. The clouds look photoshopped, but I'm pretty sure that's really nature. We get that nearly every night here. I'm told that these foothills can get pretty snowed in, but that's what makes it so charming.

All that's missing is Oliver in his three piece suit riding his antique tractor. Podunk has a lot of charm. :agree:

Tell me about it, I was stopped about 5 times up there by the cops and once by an unmarked unit from an "unknown agency". Each time they called it a "routine check". Lots and lots of surveillance up there. Hidden cameras and silent and near invisible aerial surveillance up there. Not to mention both police and military aircraft that fly over the Hudson at night with no lights on with infrared night vision cameras and heat seeking technology.. That may explain some of the UFO sightings that frequent that area. They can get away with it there since it's not over NYC. Pretty scary place.

Dunno about being scary. Seems to be pretty straightforward and very, very quiet. There's a lot of small airports, but other than an occasional light plane, there is nothing that is even audible.

Oh yeah, its quiet up there, thats fer sure. But one night I watched a convoy of helicopters coming down the Hudson. It looked like 4 with lights but in the middle was a 5th with no lights. With the naked eye you wouldn't know it was there but with a pair of binoculars there was enough ambient light its outline. I got the impression that their words to me would be, "we can see you a heck of a lot better than you can see us". In general there is a lot of surveillance going on in the rural areas. Not quite as much as the city but, they are still keeping the eye out.

In any even congratulations on the new location. That is a nice area up there. I hope all works out well. Right now I don;t know if I'd be able to sleep with all that quiet up there :). Perhaps one day when I'm older I'll leave the metro-urban/suburban area and head for quiet pastures. Maybe up into the Adirondacks, or maybe Alaska, or Northwestern Canada. I don't mind the cold and ice. Or maybe a place by the ocean. Or maybe I'll stay here. Just playing it a day at a time for now.

Thanks for all the good wishes.

The quiet is most definitely deafening up here, but Bay Ridge was very quiet for Brooklyn and I managed to sleep there for 31 years. There were many nights when I first moved there that I could hear the Staten Island Ferry leaving the Manhattan terminal. The worst was when the navy sent a very large aircraft carrier for the 4th of July. I could hear the screws turning for two days. Water does carry sound better than air.

Slept for 31 years? That is impressive. Rip Van Winkle only did about 20.
