Marianne Vos won the olympic street cycling event as well.
With that feat she won all gold medals of importance she could get, World gold medals for field cycling, street cycling and track cycling as well Olympic medals for the same, this one was the last she needed to get them al, and at age 25 she still has a long cycling carriere ahead of her.
Good show of your woman cyclist, close call, Lizzie Armitstead looks to be a promise in the future.

Not if you're a hotshot AH director at NBC that just HAS to inject his/her ego into the whole thing and splatter graffiti all over the proceedings. I hardly ever watch for the same reason. All that drama has the adverse affect of cutting down how much actual competition we see so that the egomaniacs holding the mics can get their ugly pusses on TV.

Ever known an on-air personality, either radio or TV? Pure, total ego - some of the most unpleasant people there are to try to have a conversation with. I say "try" because THEY totally hog the conversation and WILL stick their noses into your own personal business because, you know, THEY are gods and better than the rest of us. Umm, sorta. The "head to head" action makes for better TV, but not to me. I tried boarding for a while, and even tried the hardshell setup.

I do MUCH better on skis, but I started skiing in '68, and taught full time at Breckenridge for over a decade. Gave up trying to snowboard.

Really like HUGE angles myself, it's a damn thrill to do it. Geeeee Forces! Is it freaking WINTER YET? :hyper:

Here's one of my favorite male skiers. I've had the honor of taking some fun runs with Eric Schlopy in years gone by.

Considering that the song title translates to "Let Us Rejoice" it was quite appropriate.

And, no surprise, the gymnast who used the tune, Aly Raisman? Nice Jewish girl from MA.

... while we're watching, Little Miss Field Day looks at me and asks "why is that (song) familiar?" Because organist Vince Lascheid played parts of the chorus to pump up the crowd at Pirates games. He's sadly long gone, but they still play his music.

Well, now you've got me impatient for winter!

I've heard expert skiers who tried riding and were converted. Said it's more fluid than skiing. I might give it a go, but I love skiing so much it'd be hard to pry 'em off of me for a day just to risk wrist injuries. But gotta hand it to 'em for the advantages -- boots are way more comfortable & it's not nearly so cumbersome to carry a snowboard!

C'mon winter.

Depends on who's doing it. For example, I would fall off of each one, and roll downhill at pretty much the same speed.

His personal best was 128.something in Les Arcs, France.

Yes, this is faster than a skydiver in freefall going head first.

No worries, man. It just always seemed odd (as opposed to even) that pretty much all the DJs spinning discs were a pretty cool bunch, and never considered themselves as "personalities". They always treated the engineering staff with respect, which was returned. We were a pretty tight bunch. But man, the casters and talk show hosts were really tough to work with. They never seemed to understand, "don't piss off the engineering staff". I can't tell you how many times they treated me and the others like shit, and 10 minutes into their show we had transmitter failures or lost the STL link, or lost the phone lines from a remote broadcast. Bastids just never got it. The eng staff sure had fun. The old paybacks are a bitch comes to mind.

My experience was that those who came up "through the ranks" were pretty cool. Those who came fresh out of school and appeared to be more style than substance were those that thought their personal by-products were not odiferous.

Probably why I never made it as a DJ when I tried to find a job here, way back when. I'd tell them to their faces that their sh!t stank.
