Mr. Ira Jones of Merced, CA, is in the process of learning that it's not a good idea to deny FCC inspectors from inspecting his station...

Saw that today. Good for the FCC—I just wish they'd nail assholes like him on a more regular basis.

And let the FCC keep the money in their own coffers to put back into enforcement and otherwise fund their activities.

Meh, I dont have CB stuff but the FCC can look at my ham gear at any time they wish. Dude obviously had something to hide. Is it possible that said 7k$ was actually a cheaper fine to get than if he let them through the door?

One would think that after being given the first warning Mr Jones would have the common sense to "tone it down". The fact that he just kept on transmitting was quite arrogant. It also sounds as if the local fire dept needs to have a radio tech install some rf bypass caps and some filter chokes on the fire radio system, If is is pulling interference in from an unlicensed service on 27.165 mc it may be susceptible to interference from licensed services as well.
