View Full Version : Ten Tec Century 21 with Microphone and Manual
Say what?? (http://www.ebay.com/itm/TEN-TEC-CENTURY-21-MODEL-570-ANALOG-TRANSCEIVER-705-MICROPHONE-MANUAL-/120955261862?pt=US_Ham_Radio_Transceivers&hash=item1c297ed3a6)
Obviously being sold by a highly knowledgeable ham who is big on modifying equipment. Why else would he include a mic with a CW-only QRP rig?

Scroll down a little further in his description.
Look at his edit.
That is a nice looking old Ten Tec though.
We had one of those in our high school electronics class amateur radio station. Worked a lot of stuff with it during lunch breaks.
He'd be better off selling each in their own auction. The mike usually starts at $40 by itself, the radio at $60 - 75 -- and often sells for well over a bill & a half.
By packaging them this way, even with the later explanation, he makes himself look like a schmuck.

Got that right, Ron.
The word that comes to mind is...wait for it... TOOL!

Actually, yes.
Actually, yes.
Since you asked, I liked Undertow. Early, I know, but good stuff.

You are a bit younger than I thought you were.

You guys almost got me to go down to the shack to look at my C21 to see if I had missed something.

I think that was Aenima...
Tool's one of those groups that I've tried to like. The early stuff to 10,000 Days. Just can't get into it :(
Maybe I'd like Maynard's wine better 8)
I will say hes a lot happier these days. He was quite the asshole before, but no worries. I got to see them with King Crimson a few years back in an outdoor amphitheatre on a San Diego college campus. Awesome show!

It's funny, I am one of those people that likes a little bit of everything and normally I only like one or two songs from an album (with most any band). However, Tool is one of those bands that I can listen to everything they have done on a continuous loop without skipping a song.

You have to be sober to do that.

Obviously being sold by a highly knowledgeable ham who is big on modifying equipment. Why else would he include a mic with a CW-only QRP rig?He got $147.50 (plus shipping) for the package. He ought to have gotten that much for the rig, and another $50 or so for the mike. Oh well, his loss.

On the other hand, a potential Ten-Tec fan caught a lucky break.
