Damn, he died of what almost killed me, renal failure is nasty stuff. Marty was the best work he did IMHO. RIP Ernie.

The best part of Airwolf though was Jean Bruce Scott.

He was really sharp right up until the end too.. he's done some recent stuff, you'd never know he was 95!

I think the most recent thing he's done that I'm familiar with was the voice of Mermaidman on Spongebob.

A good actor may he R.I.P.
What i liked best about Ernie Borgnine was his great attitude. He never had a bad day (of course he did, but you never heard about them), he was just happy to be where he was, doing what he was doing. Always grateful to fans and grateful for his lot in life...the way it should be. Travel light, Mr. Borgnine. You did well, sir!

I think the most recent thing he's done that I'm familiar with was the voice of Mermaidman on Spongebob. He had a small role in the movie R.E.D. a few years ago (he was the keeper of the CIA archives that don't exist). I thought he was in his 70's or early 80's, he did not look his age.
When I told my wife the news last night, Little Miss Field Day didn't catch any of the other references to his work (ie McHale's Navy, Marty, Poseidon Adventure), though she did remember his role in R.E.D. Then I told her he was also the voice of MermaidMan...

In the 70s and early 80s I thought HE was in his 70s or early 80s. To me he always looked old.
OK, weird moment: Just the other day, over the weekend even, I was thinking about a movie he was in made around 77 to 80. He was a pilot or copilot and in the movie the plane crashed over water, near Florida. In the movie his widow kept smelling bay rum from time to time, her deceased husband's cologne.
Anyway, I though about bay rum on Saturday and thought about this movie and thought about EB.

Funny, I just watched R.E.D. again the other weekend and forgot all about his part. Too busy looking at Helen Mirren I guess. She isn't half bad for an old bird.

Did you catch a little note of irony in there, by the way? She plays a retired British agent, but her background is actually Russian (and she was hot in 2010). Brian Cox, who played her love interest as a retired Russian agent, his background is British.

AirWolf was one of my favorite shows. Jan-Michael Vincent, one of my favorite actors. White Line Fever was a favorite of mine (and still is) and was influential in my early decision to be a truck driver... what a waste he turned out to be. I hear he has his "Personal Issues" under control now. Ernest Borgnine was great in everything he did. Sad to see him pass away..... :(
