Well Sue, I put 7 years in at Newark Airport before they tagged it Liberty, there was none. No such thing as a holiday in the transportation industry, in fact they're the heaviest traveled days and Thanksgiving is the worst, this turkey wasn't about to give thanks! In keeping with the thread, the 4th was all about fireworks and no such thing as Independence.

The original fireworks display was muskets and pistols being fired into the air and British leaders burned in effigy, so...have at it!

Also, Ghost hunters wont be back on until september, and im not sure about GHI. The show has been sliding since Grant left, which i suspect was due to the execs at SciFi wanting to whore the show up a bit with more fake drama and bogus storylines, thus continuing to make a mockery of the field of paranormal research for the price of a bag of cheetohs. Im going to give the new episodes a shot, but if they start fake arguing, or hinting at fake sexual tension, they are done in my tv. I will conduct my own goddamn investigations and share it with people who give a shit.

If Grant left because of the above scenario, then i respect the man even more, he was my favorite anyway.

Catch a flight to Amsterdam, all the pussy you can pay for. May have to sell some radios though, as I am not sure if they work on a barter system. If that is not the kind of pussy you mean, then you can catch a flight to China and pay for all the pussy you can eat.

We got our current cat here (http://www.friendsofcats.org/). It's in El Cajon, not far from Pat. El Cajon translates to "The Box," which seems particularly appropriate in this case.

I've met Jay personally and he's a womanizing, celebrity-whore prick. Grant seemed to be down-to-earth and a decent guy.

Thank you. Thats the exact vibe i got from both. When you didnt train to be an actor for years and years, and "reality" celebrity was thrust upon you, you never learn to truly mask all of your own personality...Grant always struck me as a very down home, faithful kind of guy. He probably couldnt take anymore of the hollywood bullshit.

Double time and a half, or easing the pain? I loved double time and a half. Worked one xmas at GM and earned more in that day than on a full week without OT.

Never heard of double time point 5 around here for any reason. A long time ago, when Clinton was still President, the boss offered double time if we'd get in and get an emergency order out. Other than that, time point 5 for over 40hrs only and holiday bonuses have been done away with for hourly workers in a majority of places.

Back when the cost of living here was half the national average it didn't really matter much. It cost the same now to live here as it does in most similar places based on population density and job availability. Can't compare to NY or LA. That's a different category altogether.

Nope. Iron Island Museum. Jason arrived with three scantily clad women hanging on him, none of whom were his wife. He hit on anything with a vagina, breathing and under the age of 25.

If I hit OT by hours worked in a week, and then work on a paid holiday, it's 2.5x the pay. We do a rotating on call (24 hours) holiday schedule, so I usually grab 6 to 10 hours of that action twice a year. Great days to get something done when nobody is around, usually get called in for something silly anyway.

You know, to make the state more business friendly.

Thats a bummer since i like the show, but i always keep the coolness of a show separate from the personalities...he just always came across like a douchebag. But it makes a lot more sense to me now why Grant, a devoted, spiritual family man, felt the need to leave the show. If thats what did it, then i sincerely respect him for knowing his own heart and doing whats right for him and his family. And being a classy guy, im quite sure we will never know the truth of it.

As for the show, i love the locations! And the things they catch are what real EVP's sound like...not contrived, etc. if they dont get anything, they dont get anything and they fill out the show with fluff. I understand production that much, at least.

The unions here pay up to double time for things like that, but theres a massive push on behalf of the casino properties to abolish the unions. Its all about making more money for themselves and less rights for the employees. By the end of the year, my wifes union should be no more...as well as our benefits, protection and pay.
