In all honesty, I think widders are both.

They're poisonous, but they still taste like chicken.

Heh, when I worked for Pagemart back in 1998-2000, they would ship spare parts Fedex priority overnight, from Texas. Apparently they shipped a few live black widows too, because warnings went out to watch out for the little buggers in our shipments.

Fortunately not too many of them to be found around here. But with climate change all bets are off. Generally spiders don't frighten or bother me. Matter of fact when i see them in the house I usually let them stay as they catch a lot of mosquito's, flies, and other pesky biting insects. Usually they just set up a web in a corner somewhere any never bother me and trap the stuff that would otherwise bother me. However, if they are too big or too frisky I will usually trap them and release them outdoors.

Does to me! Examples, I dont want to drown, be burned alive, or eaten alive.

OK, I'll 'bite'.. *ahem* What is the difference between poisonous and venomous? I presume venomous means if you get bitten.. where as poisonous means they would leave something toxic behind that could impact you? :dunno: I'm stupid.

Venomous applies if you get bitten, poisonous applies if you eat it. Black widows are venomous; they may be poisonous too but people are unlikely to eat one.

Venomous, as you stated, the bite kills. Poisonous, if you eat it, you're dead. Well, maybe not dead, but you get it. I only know this because my son corrected me (He's a herp lover).

Copy that, but after the fact, it still doesn't matter how you got there, you're there.

Fortunately, the bite from a black widow rarely kills a human. Although the venom is the most toxic produced in the animal kingdom (more toxic than snake venom) the spider can rarely break human skin with its fangs or, sink its fangs in deep enough to inject lethal dose. However, it can cause illness and serious discomfort.

Brown Widders are overrunning the Black WIdders, but just last night, I saw another Black Widder I need to STAMP ON! It is about 3 feet from the BrownWIDDERmobile (Tan Town Car). Meanwhile the BLACK WIDDER MOBILE is out in the front yard collecting BLACK WIDDERS under it and in the Engine Compartment. the car is truly NOT SAFE to drive, as they may have infiltrated the Passenger Compartment, and NOTHING would cause me to steer off the road and over a cliff than to have a WIDDER climb on me while driving.

The Brown Widders climb high too. I have found them on the ROOF 2 stories up!!! That means they are trying to BREAK THROUGH the house anyway they can and GET ME IN BED!!! Fortunately, I have 2 PUSSES who are active at night looking for Brown and BLack Widders who might be crawling around. It is so DANGEROUS to live in SoCal!!!

Yeah. We have to deal with people driving enormous Lincoln Town Cars who are distracted by black widow spiders gnawing on them.
