What do you use to glue and repair LEXAN™, stop cracks. Etc.
Thank You.

What is it that's cracked?

This place has some suggestions http://ask.metafilter.com/45769/plexiglass-repair

The heat today got to the area around the mounting holes. Micro cracks. Need to fill in, seal, whatever. I used LEXAN™

Try a good quality super glue (cyanoacrylic)

I need an industrial strength fix. I'm going to put washers over the glue on the affected area. The solvent must bleed into the micro cracks otherwise it won't work.

Did you check out the link? It said to put the glue on the Lexan and let capillary action suck into the crack.

I'm thinking a good sucking will cure anything.

Super glue is what they use to fix cracked windshields, it will hold up pretty well if you use the good stuff like Zap or Loctite. Get the low-viscosity stuff that will wick into the cracks.

If you want to solvent glue polycarbonate, you can use methylene chloride but it might cloud your windshield wherever it touches the plastic.

A layer of smoked LEXAN™ cut up to the bracket line. Bond, drill, mount.

Try a good quality super glue (cyanoacrylic)

^^^

This is basically what Lexan is made of, and the super glue actually chemically welds the lexan.

This may or may not help BUT, I have in the past on stress fractures , drilled or dimpled a small hole at the end of the crack (to stop the crack from going further) , cleaned the dimple or hole with acetone, then "PUSHED" locktite 404 to the whole thing.
Then, on the mounting hole it's self , removed the screw, gotten a piece of "TYGON"(soft plastic tubing) just big enough to contain the screw and drilled out the lexan to fit the tygon/screw add washers on each side and snug up.
The Tygon acts as a shock absorber and the washers give more surface bearing to the whole assembly.
Sometimes work's , sometimes not , never figured out why.

Stop drilling is rather effective as a fix too :)

Duct tape. If you can't fix it with duct tape, it aint worth fixing. Get a new ride.

Yesterday's extreme heat and having it parked in the sun for 5 hours caused some microfracturing around the mounting holes in the Lexan™. High quality super glue is also known as liquid Lexan in the industry but don't use it to build an aquarium.
I took some rubber washers and applied super glue to each one and put it on both sides of the windshield and rebolted it, one at a time. Don't use a bonding agent that dries super fast, like the 5 second kind because you want to work the glue into the micro cracks by spinning the washers a couple of times just before you bolt it down.

That's today's lesson. If I had to do this again I'd mount the rubber washers ahead of time. This will also dampen some of the road sound from the forks that it was picking up.
Now I need to find some larger metal washers to completely cover the rubber ones which may mean I'll also need to locate longer bolts.

I want to thank you guys for pointing me in the right direction. You're all a bunch of dicks. ♥ The best dicks I know!

When it comes to the Island, if you can't find dicks, you're either blind or on barge headed back to the mainland.
