But the guy made a pretty cool video in the process. 11 months is a long time to do what should take a week including machining time.

I rebuilt that very same model engine when I was a kid. My dad bought a beater Triumph Spitfire from my cousin and told me if I could make it run, I could have it. I suceeded, eventually.

That reminds me of the MGA engine I tried to rebuild. NO ONE TOLD ME that you needed all sorts of special tools to do it with! I thought a Crescent Wrench was all I needed. I bought the CLYMRER Book on how to do it. I got it apart alright, but no chance of getting it back together. I wound up sending it all in a box down to an auto repair place in downtown San Diego where THEY tried to put it back together. After THOUSANDS of dollars, they gave up too. I sold the MGA to a Mechanic friend for $150 who DID figure out how to get it running.
