The present sunspots facing the earth is about to disappear to the other side. No indications of other sunspots forming on the present earth side. Last year, there were no days of zero sunspots, and the peak is suppose to occur next year.

An awful lot of FD hours are at nighttime. So 160/80/75/40 propagation in the middle of the night may be pretty good.

40 decent last night South America was loud in Europe, 160 just local EU contacts, 80 was a bummer.
40 closed now, locally and EU,160 just groundwave up to 100 miles out, 80 dead as a dodo. 20 EU, higher bands closed.

It is amazing being a year away from peak to see a nearly blank sun.
Looking like a line of sight and groundwave FD this year....
I was working South America on 20 last night and had no trouble reaching the east coast this morning. Sunspots are significant but not the whole enchalada when it comes to propagation.

I never saw no spots on the sun. I'm not buying this. Sounds like a load of crap from the "no sunspot" alarmists !!!

I did get a couple of stations right after i posted how bad the bands were. It seemed to perk right up. I will be getting on 40 in a little while, after dinner probably. Just got home from work, and you know what the place had a lot of tonight?

Revised Cycle 24 prediction...
(Updated 2012/06/05)
The current prediction for Sunspot Cycle 24 gives a smoothed sunspot number maximum of about 60 in the Spring of 2013. We are currently over three years into Cycle 24. The current predicted size makes this the smallest sunspot cycle in about 100 years.
