:( Bummer..

---
NEW YORK (AP) — The chatty mechanics on NPR's "Car Talk" are pulling in to the garage.

Tom and Ray Magliozzi said Friday they will stop making new episodes of their comic auto advice show at the end of September, 25 years after "Car Talk" began in Boston. The show airs every Saturday morning and is National Public Radio's most popular program.

Older brother Tom is 74 years old and the brothers say it's time to stop and smell the cappuccino.

"Car Talk" isn't disappearing, however. NPR says repurposed episodes will continue to air every week with material culled from the show's archives.

My Mom mentioned this to me and also suggested I offer to take over the show. Of course she was joking, I know a bit about engines and stuff but I am no car expert. But I am sure there are enough knowledgeable people on this Island who can do it.

George, w2amr could do it! He also has a similar sense of humor...I am thinking him, and an Islander from 5 land would be suitable replacements.

I download the show and listen to it at work every Monday. I'll probably stop once the start recycling shows. I've thought for a while that Adam Carollla would be a good replacement for Tom and Ray if he had a partner with him in the studio that was a professional mechanic. Well you've done it again, you've wasted another perfectly good two minutes reading a post about Car Talk.

I wish them well in their "retirement". I hope they find a little of the joy and happiness they've brought me, and so many others, over the years.

May they forever click and clack.

My favorite NPR show, by far.

Maybe their legal team of Dewy, Cheatam, and Howe could find a replacement?

My favorite NPR show, by far.

:(

I prefer Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me myself. I still like Car Talk but their schtick has begun to grow a bit stale over the last few years.

I usually listen to Wait Wait just before I do Cartalk.

I pretty well like the whole Saturday line up on NPR. As far as "Car Talk" goes, the biggest losers will be all the budding CW musicians that will no longer have an outlet for their auto songs. (Would those be considered Car Toons?)

Pepto Bismol won't hurt the cranckcase but you should really get it cleared up as soon as possible.

the thing about CT: even people who don't give a poop about cars (like me) listen in. still, not a bad thing for them to move on: room for up-and-coming radio artists is a good thing.
