Looks like the poor bastid was not 'prayed up' when he picked up the deadly viper. He must have had an unclean thought looking at the teenagers in attendance.

Some parts of the scripture are historical.
Other parts are allegorical.
When doing something, anything, literally according to the scripture... you'd better know which is which.
And it wouldn't hurt to have an accurate translation from ancient Aramaic into whatever tongue YOU are fluent in, lest there be a misinterpretation due to a mistranslation.

But not him, fortunately. From a Washington Post article (http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/magazine/in-wva-snake-handling-is-still-considered-a-sign-of-faith/2011/10/18/gIQAmiqL9M_story.html) on the deceased:
Wolford’s family avoids the practice. None of his children and stepchildren even go to church.
Obviously the kids didn't get that gene from dad's side of the family. Well, not that we've seen yet.

You know... :dunno: Sad to say this guy gives the rest of the people from WV (like me) a bad rap. I can see the stereotypes fly once again...
The stereotype isn't flying, it's sitting up on concrete blocks in your front yard. ;)

Sheba brought down Solomon, given another chance she brought down Wolford too.

Sometimes it takes more than faith, you need plenty of soap and water too.
