Been cleaning up the pool and for the past 3 nights I've had a visitor.

So, he was out there again tonight. The male frog finds a spot and starts chirping/croaking to draw in a female. This is the Southern Gray Tree Frog. They usually have gray and green mottling and blend in well with oak tree bark and rocks with lichen.
When the male frog vocalizes, he's basically yelling out, "Who wants to fuuuuuuck! Who wants to fuuuuuuck!"

In 1996, I raised 24 of these little boogers from tadpoles that I snagged out of a pond that was being drained. The following spring I released them into a new area with its own pond.

Actually, since it's a frog, it should be "Pierre" or "Marcel," non?

There were a couple of frogs inhabiting the fountain catch basin near the White House during the Clinton years. Towards the end, Hillary had them whacked...seems the poor beasties kept repeating "Willy-Did-It" a bit too often for her tastes.

True story.

Cute. Looks like he is favoring the one leg, though. Perhaps it may help if you rubbit, rubbit.

If he's out there tonight, I'll make a recording of him. He's getting used to me being around. Last night when I shined the light on him, he kept on singing.

I used to have a few of these as pets for close to 10 years: http://i64.servimg.com/u/f64/13/44/91/50/ss850616.jpg

By the time they were adults, they outgrew guppies and were eating live goldfish :-D

I had an "underwater" frog in my tank years ago. Interesting, although they do come up to the surface for air they seemed to prefer staying down near the bottom most of the time.

One of the things I miss about West Creek is the annual chorus of spring peepers. This time of year mating season is past and they've given way to the bug chorus. THAT I don't miss being so loud I had to turn down the mic gain and close talk to be heard over the racket.

He's been out there every night but he's not singing as much last 2 nights. I was going to make a video of him singing. Still could. Might take some time. He's pretty comfortable around me now.

He starred in Feelin' Froggy and Feelin' Froggy 2. I do believe he had a scene in Its Green Being Easy and directed Driving Miss Piggy.

He's been fattening up on night bugs but they must constantly eat. Usually for these guys, mating season is closer to July but heat and moisture are a factor. Hot humidity will spark them up.
