I finally finished fixing up the 87 Suzuki GS450L motorcycle I picked up a couple of months ago. Like the 750 Honda, it had been parked for a few years and the carbs were a mess. The front brake brake caliper was frozen, and a few other problems had to be solved. During the first ride I was impressed with how well it handled, and how quick it is. At about 390 lbs, 27 HP, and a close ratio 6 speed trans , it is pretty snappy. A bit small for me, I'm hoping my wife will like it and start riding again. In the meantime, I'll take it out for a ride every couple of days, and start using it for work. Total investment-$375.

Came out nice, George, and for a little over 96 cents a pound, I'd say you got a pretty solid deal.

My first bike was the was a GS450, I dont remember the exact year but it was early to mid 80s. I got it for 400$ from my aunt who bought it new. It sat for 20 years. She started it every few days but that was about it. Needed carbs rebuilt, new brakes, chain, tires, etc. Still well worth the price. I have it still back in the states. In fact I have some photos somewhere. I will have to have my parents dig up the photos. It still has under 8000 miles on it. It had 400 or so on it when I got it.

I wish they'd reintroduce the GS1100L/E series. The 1150 Katana - loved by street racers everywhere.

Very true but I don't mind that at all. If I can get it at that price I am more than happy to fix it and make it running good.

Bobber? Jebus dude! That ruins them. At least stretch kits keep the front wheel planted on the ground.
Pull out the back wheel by 10 inches to a foot. Stretch back the rear fender and add body panels in the gaps. Smooth.

CB450 Honda has a spot in my heart, I had three of 'em. But not like this...

Your Fat Boy doesn't have one? The later models do - in the left "cap" - and I'm sure you can retrofit it.

Y'all are calling those bobbers? I guess anything can be a bobber these days. The one in George's post is bobber-ish. The one in Dave's post is not a bobber.
