I had a similar reaction when I saw it yesterday, as did my XYL when I showed it to her just a few minutes ago.

There's a useful metaphor in there, too—from now on, whenever some asshole in a boom car or on a loud Harley goes by, I'm gonna think "chimp with a gas can."

Question for bikers about loud Harleys.....

I've seen bumper stickers that say "Loud mufflers save lives." Made me look at the noise issue differently; it's obvious that a thundering exhaust is unmissable, usually, and seems to me to avoid some of the "I didn't know there was a bike there" accidents. The question is, how "loud" is "too loud?" Or is there such a thing as "too loud"? Given high power boom boxes in cars and headpieces, etc., it just might take a VERY loud muffler to be heard.

I'd rather put up with a LOUD bike that's being ridden safely than those crazy-assed fools who fly down the Taconic Parkway at what MUST be > 90 MPH on their crotch rockets, weaving in and out of heavy 60 MPH traffic. THOSE guys scare the shit outta me. And those bikes aren't that loud -- you don't really hear them til they're whizzing by.

BTW....LOVED the cartoon!

All I know is that there's no evidence to back up the claim that "Loud bikes save lives" and, even if there was, there's no need for them on a quiet residential street at 2AM.

Is that something like a trunk monkey?
