If you reinstall and have problems re-authenticating your Windows OS, there is interesting insight of what M$ is doing, and how to help resolve M$ issues.
(Links removed because the questionable nature of the site, despite the interesting technical discussions on the site, not advocating illegal use)
More interesting, but not as cutting edge, links:

I'll stick with Linux. rarely need to reinstall and never have to call home base to authenticate - re authenticate. However, i guess if you want/need Windows then you have no choice.
As I recall, this sort of post violates Island policy:
Welcome to the Island. The rules around here are pretty easy.
1. Keep the talk and pictures to a PG or PG-13 rating as much as you can. Folks of all ages and backgrounds visit here.
2. No links to pornography, obscene images, or other websites of a questionable nature. Software hacks and such fit into this area as well. Keep it clean and legal. If you link to something that may be questionable, please warn others in advance. The simple statement "may not be suitable for work" will save some headaches.
