I'm here at the motel in Rochester (well, technically Henrietta) & my car is right outside the window. Anyone wanna get on and chat? Can probably be operational by 10 (EDT) tonight. I'm full of boundless energy & will probably go down in a few minutes to see what's going on on 75. As if I didn't know....But the AM window will be interesting.

Might do 20-10 today with you folks. Am dealing with a sinus headache at the moment which is among the worst I have ever experienced.

Can't do 75m phone, alas—no antenna. It's hard to work the low bands when you're living on a 1/4 acre lot.

I'm a bit leery of trap dipoles—poor harmonic suppression, for one thing, and you lose some juice to the traps—but I might just try one of those someday to replace my less-than-adequate G5RV.

when ever i can get the pvc couplers ill build one... seems the hardware store wants a million bucks for the 1" couplers needless to say the 1" 1.25" and 1.5" couplers are way out of my price range

Thanks, but HF verticals are useless here—no room to put in the requisite radials. Besides, the RF noise level in SoCal is atrocious and verticals tend to be significantly worse when it comes to picking it up.

But I can guarantee you that at least around here, a HF6V works just fine on 80 meters on a small lot (and if we have a 1/4 acre I'd be amazed). And that's with only a handful of radials.
