Almost as bad as Springtime in WWII Germany.
University of Oklahoma (Norman, OK...a bit south of OKC) has been hit by a tornado this afternoon (about 1600 local), no injuries so far, thankfully. Tomorrow is looking like a real doozy.
Norman is where the USPS has a large training facility I think. I hope they're fine.
Watching all this unfold via net forums/SPC/GRl3 at the moment. Hopefully no one gets killed.

Isn't Norman OK where the tornado prediction centre is ? Whenever there is a tornado watch or warning around here it always comes out of Norman OK.

Norman is where the NOAA Storm Prediction Center resides.
I've been working on a software project that processes NOAA VTEC messages. I see a lot of KWNS messages, and that's them.

So ? The storm prediction center was wiped out by storms ?

At least my home that is going to be rented out and the neighborhood came away unscathed!

I would think they'd be protected by a legion of whackers, arms locked, embracing the building.
However, if it did happen, that's some serious storm Karma. "I'll show you for warning those @#$@#% people...."

Would have it been predicted?
The way the storm prediction/tracking center is built, I think it would survive an EF-5 storm unscathed. Might lose a couple flakes of paint. Those guys fully understand where they are.

But what if an EF-1000 storm hits ?? Like the ones they have on Jupiter or Saturn or one of those planets that are hot rodding around in the solar system. :)
