Has anyone used OTC wart removers to get rid of warts on the hands ? As a child I used to handle frogs and they gave me hand warts (or so the medieval witchcrafte legends say). In any event I have a tendency to occasionally develop warts on the backs of my fingers and sometimes on the front part. I recently developed a small wart on the front of my index finger and tried a product called "Duofilm" (salicylic acid + colloidion). and it seems to have done the job, dissolving a few layers of skin in the process. In any event I am hoping that once it heals the wart won't return. But the stubborn one is on the back of the index finger, a wart I have had for many years. It seems to be taking forever to dissolve. I keep applying the medicine and I keep filing and peeling it away but dang... it must have some deep roots. They say it cant take 12+ weeks to work.

They can also remove them by freezing them off but from what I read the method can require several treatments, can be painful, and doesn't always work. Another method is to burn with laser radiation. They say it can be painful but it does work most of the time.

It seems like it is one of those ailments that has been around as long as history can remember but, medicine still has medicine baffled as far as a sure fire cure goes.

I had one on one on my fingers that really use to bug me. I finally asked the family quack to take it off for me. He shot some xylocaine in my finger, and after it numbed up, he came back in with a big, silver, cauldron looking vessel. He opened it up and pulled out a dipper of boiling and smoking liquid. Put some on the wart, and viola; I never felt any discomfort, several days later it fell off, (the wart not the finger) and the thing never came back, so far.

Now, if you are a do-it-yourselfer, tune the rig up on .313, take a short piece of coax from the antenna connector , key down, and drag the center conductor around your pesky little wart. Problem solved.

I always liked a water filled stump in a cemetery at midnight on Halloween. (thanks Tom Sawyer)

Glacial acetic acid will do the job but be careful not to get any in your eyes.

It works.
I had to go back and check if anyone else had posted it previously, since I just sort of blurted it out right off the bat.

It's worked for me. Also, medical tape too. I think it's something with the glue, or sealing out air, or something.

I've heard of the duct tape method but I was always skeptical of it's effectiveness. Maybe I'll give it a try next time.

For now the Salicylic Acid, "Duofilm(R)" seems to be doing the job. You just hanve to keep applying it every day and keep filing the wart down to remove the dry dead skin from the surface.

Plus, there is ether, alcohol, and colloidion in the Duofilm which gives it a rather pleasing smell.

^^^Uhmm, I'd diagnose that as a bad case of sunspots, not warts.
