I'm not going to look it up, but he supposedly has quite a large audience for his radio show (20 million?). Are there any stats on listeners vs. supporters? I know a couple of people who listen to his show just to raise their normally low blood pressure to levels that help them get out of bed in the morning.

The stats are just a total of market penetrations. It's not the kind of feed that the station pays for, and needs to determine if it's profitable. They plunk the show where they have no content, and get paid to do it.

His advertisers only care about his "market penetration". Right now, they know their adverts can be heard across the nation, at the same time, in all locations.

I've heard the 20 million number, too. Supposedly, this is down from 30+ million a year or two ago.

If there's any justice in the world, he just hoisted himself with his own petard. But we won't get that lucky.

Advertisers on his program now dropping him like a lame duck.

UPDATE: @SleepNumberSara Tweeted this afternoon: "Recent comments by Rush Limbaugh do not align w/our values, so we made decision to immediately suspend all advertising on that program."Think Progress is reporting that Quicken Loans is out, too! Kelly@QuickenLoans Tweeted: "Due to continued inflammatory comments– along w/valuable feedback from clients & team members– QL has suspended ads on Rush Limbaugh program."

If there's any justice in the world, he just hoisted himself with his own petard. But we won't get that lucky.

One needs to understand a few things about Limbaugh. First is that he's a televangelist; religion or politics, doesn't matter. He earns his living stirring the mud and catering to the fear in less than ten percent of the population. Second, he really does pay to be on the air. That is, he pays the stations, not the other way around. Third, the truth doesn't much matter; it's all about the ratings. He caters to those devoid of critical thinking.

Ratings slipping? Rushbo knows how to get back in the news. This will likely boost his ratings in the short term (and he knows this), but long term, people are starting to tire of his "three hours of hate, five times a week." Rest assured though; he's brainwashed enough "folk" to keep him running well into a very lush retirement. I'd admire him for this if he used his power for good instead of evil, but good never sells in the commodity market of words.

Is there a crane heavy enough to hoist him in the first place?

If I wanted to raise my BP, rot my brain and stink up the room all at the same time I know a better way to do it.

I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I make Chuck Norris serve it to me in a dress.
