RCA Bakelite type? Only saying RCA, because it looks kinda like an RCA unit I saw on CL recently.

I can see it has 3 bands. I enlarged the picture but still couldn't make out what the letters around the red dial read.

Looking at the photos blown up as large as I can make them, it's a Zenith something or other. The text around the red knob thing looks like it says "LONG [SOMETHING]"

These don't come up often on CL here. Usually you will find phones, car audio, phones, car audio, phones, TVs and car audio.

The thing is so butt-ugly that it's reached a point where it's sort of cool.

You can find a lot of those things at hamfests and ebay. Also local antiques and thrift stores.

I have a whole collection of Zenith Trans-Oceanics that I picked up this way.

Believe it or not they are pretty cheap. I've picked up old radios for $5 and $10. Some guy wanted $300 for an old radio I told him forget it... it wasn't even in good condition.

The price point on ZTOs hasn't changed much in the last 15 years. Give it another 15 maybe.

The point of entry, now referred to as 'The Scar' does in fact, look as if it could have been smoked, like or as in from a C4 blast. Yep, I would say C4, a pick, a 20 pound sledgehammer and a JCB is what it looks like they used to gain entry. No, I have decided I will not post brag shots as my general state at the moment looks worse than anything I have seen on Rotten.com, well, except for the oriental guy that was cut in two anyways.
