I forgot to mention to you guys that I found after several years of searching,a NIB Yaesu FT 101 EE !

No,I couldn't help myself,I have had it on the air in case you were wondering.

Hard to describe the new car smell from a 30 year old plus rig.

It also came with a NIB landliner, and AM filter.
I'll try to get some pics soon.

It wasn't as expensive as you might think,I paid $650.00 shipped.

Good find. I once had a complete FR-101D/FL-101 outfit, an FR-101S/FT-201 outfit and an FRG-7 w/ SP-101B. Simplistic but fun to operate.

A friend once had an FT-101EE lineup (rig, YC-601, FV-101, Landliner and I can't remember what else). A very rainy Memorial Day weekend in conjunction with a failed sump pump did that outfit in. :(

Nice rice burner, you'll need extender boards for servicing though. Now is that the one with 6JS6s or the later version with 6146s like I had once upon a time?

We'll have to set a sked for a FT-101 to FT-101 QSO. Mine is an early production model.

EE (and B/F series) were 6JS6C PA. ZD (Mk I/II/II) used 6146; they were closer to an FT-90x in overall design than the earlier 101 series.

Yes,6JS6c's,
I was amazed to find during initial burn in and tune up that at plate dip my Powermaster was showing 180 watts!
I;ll throttle it down quite a bit, those tubes are getting hard to find.
Tom,i'm thinking about using this rig as my SKCC rig,so if you are patient we can QSO there,I'm a little rusty.

Sounds like a plan. I'll have to find my Bulgarian key. I'm a bit gunshy using some of my other keys with the 101...I discovered keying voltage one day in a manner that was rather shocking.

Did you get any background on why it was this old and NIB? Great find!

Is there an emoticon for envy?

I have no idea about the history.
I know that I had to cut open the factory tape on the boxes, all cords were in taped up boxes etc.
It was pretty cool to see.
I think it was a once in a lifetime chance.
I'm more particular about this rig than I am about my FTDX 5000.

Something like that always makes me thnik, "Preserve or use it?" Always USE IT!

Great find -- that "new radio" smell must have been intoxicating!

Enjoy! Even the HV on the key!

No need to throttle back, Yeasu never ran finals balls out. Then the 6JS6 being used in large screen color TVs they must be the heftiest sweep tubes made or pretty close to it, then the SSB duty cycle is far less than a sawtooth wave in H deflection. Trouble is these days they're very expensive IF you can find them so you may compare the 6KD6 or consider changing out the sockets and going with 6146Bs.
