We all are broken one way or the other, some more than most. AND, our alphabet is only 25 letters, no Z.

Because we're the only ham board with a resident bartender and we reside on this island in exile of the mainland.

Well, unless you're a certain ham in BC, Canada, you will not refer to this board as "Misfit hams."

The proper name is "The Island of Misfit Hams."

The name was coined by one of its founders, Mike, AL2N. Mike was given a challenge by a certain other ham forum's moderator/staff that he should start up his own forum. Mike got the name of the forum from Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and "The island of misfit toys" which he happened to be watching on TV one day.

Sorry for the serious answer. I feel like such a stick in the mud. :(

Somebody had to do it Ryan...your no stick in the mud.

I had re-written the Beverly Hillbillies tune with a pretty fair parody of The Islands historic formation and posted it here.
Couldn't find it in the archives to repost it...may not have made the various server transitions.
Too bad, I thought it was spot on.

Not to correct, but... Mike was THE founder. He started it by himself. It's HIS fault. ;)

As I understand, he was watching The Island of Misfit Toys with his kids when he set up the first incarceration of The Island.

(Adding to your mud stickishness, Ryan, and Welcome Back!)

Ah yes. I stand corrected... although I thought two eye was the co founder.

But anyways, glad to be back!

Two eye joined a few days after I did -- already about 10 souls cast to the Island as I recall. I miss Dave -- he had an incredibly independent streak that was hard to ignore. A victim of the vermin; his account is still active.

Thanks Carlo, didn't know that.
Looks like Eric Burden recorded it in '67.

I used to get the ole Magnavox console's sides bulging with that one...took a few pennies to keep it in the groove!

See? Never question Pope Carlo when it comes to Randy Newman. I've been a huge fan of his for years and always get a bit irked when somebody who covered one of his songs gets the credit.

Yeah, Short People is funny as all get out! In a satire shootout he'd beat Mark Russell hands down, no contest. Why? Take a closer look, reminds me of the night Chevy Chase fell off the stage... sotally toned from New York, it's Saturday Night!

Yeah, this guy.
