Hegyes had not been in good health for the past two years, his brother Mark Hegyes told the paper. The actor had suffered a previous heart attack in recent years.
Police responded to an emergency call from Hegyes' home at approximately 9 a.m. He was transported to JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J., but at that point he had gone into full cardiac arrest.

Wow, showing my age. "Up your nose with a rubber hose!"
I remember that show and it brings me back to another time in my life when the atmosphere surrounding our lives seemed lighter.

I loved that show. It's too bad that shows like that and All in the Family wouldn't be PC enough to air these days. Some fukwad would bitch about them being racist.

Travolta has been through some interesting stuff in career and in life. I'm surprised he's still with us.

If I were him (thankfully I'm not) one of the highlights would be having a commercial pilot license and flying the big birds. Of course, owning one and having your own airport/tower/house ain't too shabby, either.

They're still around on the TV Land and Antenna cable channels.

I never met Robert, he may have been living in L. A. since Kotter was in production at the time but I serviced his mother's beastly old Zenith TV enough times. Long story, I inherited her from Jack's TV in Woodbridge, she lived in Metuchen. Now I get the impression he inherited the house since he was living in town at the time of his death, something I never knew until now. Small world it is after all.

Remembering the show I'm thinking of two things, John Louis Peter Phillip of Eggs Epstein was bad enough but Arnold Horshack (horse shack?) was cloned from Gunther Toody (Joe E. Ross) of Car 54 Where Are You after skipping a generation as if none of us old farts noticed. OOH OOH!
