Had a scan on Monday. Today, my oncologist's words were, "Significant Shrinkage - 30-50% in all tumors, both in my liver and the main mass on my esophagus.

I wept when I heard that, it was such an incredible relief to know that all I gotta do, for now, is to continue on this very tolerable course of treatment.

Thanks to all of you who sent along your warm support. It was really appreciated, and it's working! There's proof of that.

BTW...I know of two other hams who are in great shape many years after getting the same diagnosis. Look like I'm going to be another one!

Thanks again!

Vy 73 to all,

Paul

Great news, Paul, congratulations!

(Last time I had news of "significant shrinkage," it was delivered by my ex when she was in a really bad mood...)

Thanks, Kelly. Will check out that vaccine.

Reminds me....

Currently at Radio Shack you've got the option to donate to cancer research when you check out. I always give 'em $5. Obligated to. I'm benefiting a lot from cancer research. Just today my doctor told me that for treatment like mine they used to do a bigger dose over a week, and that really messed up the patients. Thanks to the research, they found this treatment plan that's just as effective and leaves the patient fully functional with mild (that's an understatement - I say practically non-existent) side effects.

IMHO, that's research at its most effective best! Probably won't "cure" me....but it WILL keep me fully functional for a long, long time.

Thanks for the good words.

Thank you. Those comments really work, I'm am totally appreciative of all of them. Make it a LOT easier to stay positive. And it looks like the second part's gonna be easy. No reason to think that it'll be any different after my next scan.

Thanks, Doug.Doug is that highly opinionated guy from 5 land. We tangle once in awhile in the forbidden zone, but Doug is one of the good guys here on IOMH. He provides balance, and good auto repair advice.

Thanks! That's very, very easy with the support I've been getting from friends and family. The good words from the Island are very special to me! And they're working!

But I'm not really doing any "work." I'm just showing up so the wonderful doctors and nurses can do THEIR work.

Today was proof positive that cancer can be a blessing. It has led to a wonderful reconciliation with my sister and we found out that we really are very alike & can be really good friends. Kind of a miracle, really...but wonderful She's been cancer free for about 15 years now.

Reconciliation is great. Life is just too short.

Kinda diggin' my sis lately, too. We went a lot of years without much communication, but for no real reason other than separation. She now "rules the roost" in the house where I grew up. Keeps track of Dad as a part of what might be considered "medical parole." Without her, he'd be in a nursing home.

Life is interesting, but it ain't all bad...
