Giants vs Pats.
Don't really give a shit this year.
I'll only take the Giants because of the unethical history of the Patriots. Then there's the unsportsmanlike conduct encouraged by the staff and coach.

You must have been channeling W7NPN. She said exactly the same thing at the end of the Niner game.

Spooky.

Despite the 'no hating' rule of this forum, I must endorse 'CGC's commentary. I was really hoping to see a 49ers/Ravens SuperBowl.. so much for that. Oh well.. :dunno:

Well, I've lived in Pittsburgh too long to root for Modell's Meatballs. But for reasons already mentioned, I'm no fan of the New England Ethically Challenged Cheats either.

OTOH, I'm from New Jersey, and the Giants were the first "major" level sports team to move their home base to the state... and (for a brief time until Pete Rozelle vetoed it) even change their name to the NJ Giants. So you know who I'm going to be rooting for.

But not too loudly. My boss is from Boston. And my review is coming up.

The Tree-Hugger's Guide to the NFL

Sure, football is a violence-glorifying testosterone orgy that should be banned. But that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy it when you're not out spiking trees or protesting your local gas station as a pollution- mongering crime against the Earth. But when you're watching 22 steroid- chomping over muscled monsters (i.e, men) try to beat each other senseless in a series of imperialist land grabs, how do you know who to cheer for?

We have the answer: Ranking the entire NFL in terms of What We Know Is Right.

Our General Principles:

1. Any animal is better than any human.
2. Endangered animals are better than non-endangered animals.
3. Native Americans are better than other minorities and better than any other humans.
4. Humans guilty of crimes against other humans are:
a). Somewhat better than humans guilty of crimes against animals
b). Much better than humans guilty of crimes against the Earth.
5. Team names that aren't PC need to be fixed.

Some Special Cases:

1. Dolphins are the ultimate.
2. People who believe in their country are the absolute worst - lower than whale doodoo.

And so, the Rankings:

1. Miami Noble, Intelligent, and Wise Dolphins
2. Philadelphia Endangered Bald Eagles
3. Atlanta Endangered Peregrine Falcons
4. Cincinnati Endangered Bengal Tigers
5. Chicago Endangered Grizzly Bears
6. Los Angeles Sort Of Endangered Rams
7. Seattle Generic Sea Birds, Some Of Which Are Endangered
8. Denver Horses Ridden Abusively By Humans
9. Detroit Lions 10. Indianapolis Colts
11. Washington Native Americans
12. Kansas City Native American Leaders
13. Cleveland Players Of Color
14. New York Vertically and Gravitationally Enhanced
15. New Orleans Sanctimonious Morals-Imposers
16. Phoenix Religious Hierarchy (don't let the bird fool you)
17. Los Angeles Waterborne Murder-Thief-Rapists
18. Tampa Bay Waterborne Murder-Thief-Rapists
19. Green Bay Packers of Dead Abused Animal Flesh
20. New York Air- and Noise-Polluting Bird-Scaring Jets
21. Minnesota Fur- and Horn- Wearing Pillagers
22. Buffalo Wild West Show Stars and Cattle Abusers
23. Dallas Cattle Murderers and Native American Exploiters
24. San Diego Electricity Consumers
25. Houston Oil-Spilling Well-Drilling Natural Resource Wasters
26. Pittsburgh Coal-Burning Smog-Generating Steelers
27. San Francisco Gold Profiteers
28. New England White Male Gun-Carrying Tree-Chopping Imperialist Dogs

↑↑↑ As for that, I like George Carlin's take on football as being an adaptation of America. Football being the personification of a land acquisition game.

Just read that the stadium has a retractable roof. Link (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/how-a-super-bowl-city-is-chosen.html)

Sure wish they'd open it if there's bad weather -- that'd be real football!

Great video from Mr. Carlin -- and I wish that people who post videos would put a little effort into getting the audio level right, or that youtube would put some software in there to do that. A large portion of the videos I watch there have woefully low audio level & I've really gotta listen to here it.

Just saw the half time show. Maybe I might have to give up my gay card, but I am not a fan of madonna. Having stated that, I must say that the show was very good. The special effects of the set was FABULOUS!

The fact that you used the word fabulous to describe a stage show adds enough credits to allow you to keep your gay card.

Stopped by the local gas station to buy some smokes on the way home from buying groceries this morning with the wife.

Guy wanted to know if I'd be watching the game. Said I wasn't too interested and even pretended to offer the Bronco's defense: ain't playing. "What, are you a commie?" was his direct response.

Fuck, I'm getting too old for this brand of logic.

Deep in the fourth quarter. The jints are just a field goal away from re-taking lead. This "one score can win" situation will continue til the final gun (remember when the fired a gun to mark the end? The game will be decided on the last play.

Gotta keep the audience interested....a rout would drive the losing team's fans away & ad revenues would drop.

W1GUH
02-05-2012, 09:35 PM
And the dropped catch by the Pats star receiver with no defenders anywhere close?

Imagine, for a second, if all the money spent on a silly game with a bunch of guys in tights carrying a ball down an astroturf park; were instead spent on something like:

* Cancer research
* Education
* AIDS research
* Quantum entanglement
* Marine Biology
* Space exploration

Or, any host of other productive endeavors?

The fact that you used the word fabulous to describe a stage show adds enough credits to allow you to keep your gay card.I kinda did that on purpose. I rarely use that word in mixed company. Let's say it was to die for. I missed the the birdie flip, just like I missed the nipple shot 8 years ago (has it really been that long ago?)
