After spending 20 years getting military haircuts, I never worry about what a haircut looks like. It grows back. I will say that the worst I ever had came from Fantastic Sams.

As long as his name isn't Sweeney Todd you'll be alright.

Well, the haircut was good but not the same social atmosphere as I remember barbershops of olde. The barber who tended to me was too busy with the soccer match to carry on conversation.

Well, now that I got a haircut I no longer look as much as an aging Hell's Angels biker as I used to.

OIC, I was expecting the crazy scientist hairstyle. :snicker:

You can (literally) find my barber on Google maps: http://g.co/maps/3s7ea

Just look inside the doorway to his shop. Ramiro charges 80 pesos for a haircut, which is a tad under $6 USD.

I'm sitting right across the table from my personal stylist. I sometimes tell her I had to marry her for the free haircuts.

I was headed very close in that direction but unfortunately I lacked the white hair.

I go to one of those $12.95 places where a hippy chick of dubious heritage cuts your hair. Rarely ever the same hippy chick.

Probably the closest I'll ever get to "strange." I tip well.

Back when I got haircuts I always when where you got the works...shampoo, cut, & dry. Some of the hair washers knew exactly where to massage my scalp for a great wash! And a good tip.

My last haircut (Jan 2, 2012) I donated my hair to Locks of Love (http://www.locksoflove.org/). I had not cut my hair since i was taking chemo. It had grown to 18". I shaved my head after the event. I don't see myself visiting a baba shoppe for a few weeks at the least.

Yeah I have that fusion razor too. I must admit it gives a great shave. But blades are so expensive. A couple of months ago I decided to try using an old fashioned safety razor, just for nostalgic fun. I bought the old fashioned metal handle and a pack of double edge safety blades. I was sure I would try it once or twice and immediately go back to the fusion. I am still using the safety razor and I have not gone back to the fusion. I find I am getting the same close, smooth shave using the safety razor. And at under $2.00/pack the safety blades save me mucho dinero.

For me the safety works fine. But for others mileage may vary.

My wife is from Mexico and we spend a lot of time here. On my last visit, I was only one day away from becoming an illegal immigrant, in Mexico, as my six month tourist visa had almost expired.

I haven't run out of the bag full of free samples they sent out in a mass mailing when they were first introduced. Of course they sent one per mailing but a mail contractor I knew at the time dropped a rather large bag full of them with me.

Anybody remember the Flobee Haircutting System, that was advertised on TV, in the early 1990's? It was a cutting device that hooked up to your vacuum cleaner and supposedly allowed you to cut your own hair to precision length.

http://www.flowbee.com/Newimages/RickH.jpg

I worked with a guy, named Larry, who was so excited by the TV ads that he ordered the product. While awaiting the 4-to-6 week delivery of his Flobee, Larry never missed a chance to explain to us how convenient and cost-saving this product was going to be. Day after day, week after week, we all grew sick of hearing him preach about the wonders of his soon-to-arrive product.

Then, one day, Larry came to work and quietly slipped into his office. His hair was awfully hacked-up. We never heard another peep from him about Flobee.

Hear Hear! I still get el flato toppo but now its a #3 on the sides instead of a 1.5. Oh and I keep it a bit taller. Been going to the same shop in town here since 1999. Gawd...has it been that long.
