Didn't they put a 401c.i.d. in the Gremlin as an option?

Yep, and that engine found its way into a couple of my friend's Jeeps.

I always knew the Aztec was a disaster from the first time I saw one.
Saw some interesting notes in history. Nice link.

I had a Chevy Monza but not at all like what they described. Mine had a 4cyl Honda OHC with a 5 speed gearbox, wouldn't get out of its own way but it got me from A to B. Then there was the '76 AMC Hornet hatchback, a true POS that thankfully didn't last long. Oh Lord, woncha buy me a Mercedes Benz?

I rented a Ford Aspire once. My comment on returning it was "I guess it aspires to be a real car some day." The person at the rental counter replied "That's what everyone says."

I had a 79 Volare' handed down to me. Never ran right until I replaced the carburetor and added a manual choke. Slant Six Super. Super you ask? Yeah, it had a two barrel.

That was entertaining. I owned two Chevy Citations and a ''77 Chevette. My sister had a Vega and our neighbor across the street had a Gremlin. My father had a little green Monza for a while.

Growing up the 1989 Eagle Premier was the first car I remember. Dad bought it new and had it till '98. That would be 300k miles later with very few problems.

I noticed a lot of these cars got on the list simply do to looks. If that is the case I can make a top 300 list myself lol.

My daily driver is a #6..... actually mine's an '04...... I love it. As far as #100, the 2006 Pontiac Solstice goes..... I have a passion and a deep burning desire to buy it's sister, the Saturn Sky. Unlike the Solstice, it is an amazingly beautiful car and, true to GM form, for having multiple cars offered with slight differences that usually amount to little more than rebadging, the Sky, like the Solstice, would have a difficult time pulling the greasy Sunday roast string out of a cats arse. The Sky Redline, however, is a different animal indeed....

And, of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I know someone who has a Pontiac Aztek and while he'd be the first person to admit that the thing is butt-ugy, he really likes the car. It's been very reliable and has features that nothing else offers.

I loved the "underpowered" 'Vette spots. A lot of these underwent heart transplants soon after their owners took possession of them. A ham acquaintance once had a '75 with 800HP worth of 6-71 Jimmy equipped, 4-bolt-main 454 stuffed under the hood.

And then there's the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky.

Freaquin' SEXY lookers....love that dashing, rakish roofline. But a total disaster as a practical car. The report about trunkspace isn't much of an exaggeration. I could barely fit my laptop case in the trunk, my carry-on was in the front seat. What the heck were the thinking?

For an OF, it didn't drive badly. It was fine on a drive down to San Diego from LA. A little cramped, maybe, but overall comfortable. But this OF is no longer a convertible fanatic like I was in earlier days. Used to love cruising with the top down...now I just find it distracting...

Ah, but what potential in that package...too bad it was implemented to thoughtlessly.

Too bad they didn't have photos of each clunker. The POS yugo should top the list.

Did I miss it or was the AMC Matador also listed?

Nope.

Remember the blizzard of '93? The "Perfect Storm"?

Every road in the state was closed that night. 4x4s were off in the ditches everywhere. Of course, this called for a road trip. My friend's Ambassador (another which is conspicuously absent) went through 1' high drifts on the freeway like the damned thing was on rails. We couldn't stick that car no matter how hard we tried.
