Interesting to see both the technology and the terminology progress—from tubes to transistors, from Mc to MHz—over the lifespan of the publication.

Very nostalgic here. My dad worked at the RCA Harrison plant, starting sometime in the 1960's, right up until the place was shut down.

I love to see stuff like that, and old ham ads, too. Takes me back to the days of my little homebrew rig, and freezing my ass off out in the storage room calling CQ on the novice portion of 40 meters. (7.180 as I recall)

Cool find George. I am looking for mercury vapor diodes for the P/S. When I was a Novice I dreamed of having one of those hot 250W rigs. Hell, I dreamed of having a microphone.

It's Mc or Kc... None of this Mhz nonsense ! And it's CONDENSERS , not capacitors.

Mercury Vapour rectifiers look cool but can be a PITA. I was using them in my Valiant (a pair of 833's) and always having crazy arc overs and problems, even when I gave them ample warmup. I switched to a pair of argon rectifiers and got much better results. I would still put the 833 rectifiers in from time to time just for looks. They do give off a beautiful glow. The argon rectifiers just make a dull purplish-crimson glow. Of course the best replacement for 833's are a pair of direct solid state plug in diode stacks. I have a pair of those in the Globe King.

Cool find George. I am looking for mercury vapor diodes for the P/S. The ones in my Valiant and 500 transmitters have both been replaced with solid state diode stacks. That's probably the way to go.
