This is a nice USB 3.0 docking station for SATA and IDE hard drives. There are two bays, only one has the SATA interface, and the other is blank, with the IDE interface on the rear side. The unit provides all the cables needed for the IDE interface, including a power cable to connect the HDD to the docking station power connector, a 40 pin ribbon cable, and a 44 pin ribbon cable for the 2.5 inch drives. This docking station was used for the USB speed tests here: http://forums.hamisland.net/showthread.php?19945-USB-3-0-is-here-and-an-installation&p=394056&viewfull=1#post394056

Place the SATA drive in the first slot, the drive connector connects easily with the connector in the docking station. There is a button to turn on power, which will turn blue when power is applied. A red button will flash red when USB communications are established.

turn power off, and the USB connection properly closes down. Power back on, and the connection is automatically established.

Works well with that WD 2TB "Green" drive.
