No, it's not the song covered by the Swinging Blue Jeans in 1963 -- it was the W1GUH/K1NSS/TR7 Sunday Stroll, this afternoon just up the hill from Kripplebush, NY in Dashtoons' Shack of Solitude/Cult Shrine of the Dog-Faced Ham. We put this FB vintage Drake's Cake through its paces, primarily on 40 and had some interesting chats with ops in Jersey as well as way up Ogdensburg way and out to the Green Mountain State with 59 plus plus condx, CW and SSB. Killer audio, quiet receiver, all the hype is all true, plus 50 watts over the usual 100 watt yawn. Just add donuts and eggnog for 500% all party.

Paul didn't almost cut his hair today. The old Samson thing. Shoulder length locks let him loaf along like a kw and a half.

I'm just jealous. With my curly hair, I could never wear it long without looking like I was something that had just emerged from the New Guinea wilderness.

The keyer and filter indeed lend a certain authenticity -- just like that sweater makes me look....like a ham.

Good shot of the TR7 though, I'll see if I can crop out Moby Sweater.

Hey, Jeff: Have you ever considered exhibiting at the Comic Con here in San Diego?

Kripplebush?

Really?

Yup, on County Route 2, essentially a bunch of old cool houses, some colonial dutch stone, at a bend in the road , once upon a time more of a real town with a one room school and still with a church. We're in some sticks here and we like it that way, except when propane trucks come flying down the road by our blind driveway at 60. Gotta stop, turn off radio, fan, lower front windows, look, listen, and...whatever.

Hey, Jeff: Have you ever considered exhibiting at the Comic Con here in San Diego?

Yes I have, but I don't think I will. Last spring as an experiment I exhibited at MoCCA fest, which is pretty big but more indy and lower voltage than the Comic Con. Made some cool contacts, sold some books and gave away a lot of dogbones to the delight and mystification of many twenty-somethings. Still, the cost/benefit skewed unfavorably, never mind adding airfare and surely higher booth fees at Comic Con. Selling physical books is ever tougher, especially nicer color printed on demand books. I probably could have sold a bunch of smaller color prints. A lot of exhibitors did that. People may not have a big book budget, but they like to buy a little something just to show off, the "look what I got" syndrome.

I realize it's difficult to believe, but this mug's game remains a retiree's silly self-indulgence. More expensive than sitting home watching Wheel of Fortune, but it amuses me like a clown.

PS: At MoCCAfest got to meet Gahan Wilson, the Playboy/NatLampoon/Guide to World Band Radio Book cartoonist, an old hero of mine. Very nice gent, I amused him like a clown with my dogbones, he quite well aware of ham radio as an avid SWL.

I can second that, it's very, very picturesque and scenic. Not to mention that at Jeff's QTH the noise is about as non-existent as I've heard it. What's more, it's right down the road from Krumville!

Special poignancy. That was a shot I took when I was checking out the camera I bought from Albi when he upgraded last spring.

Keyer....BAAAAH!!

You kids these days with your keyers and...and...hula hoops and the like!!

I prefer to mine the raw ore, hook wires up to them and smack the rocks together to make code!
