Just bought this to quickly copy files from one computer to another without having to network or create a throwaway CD, or find an available thumb drive.

Took it out of the box, plugged one end to the computer, and a File Manager type program, something that looks like laplink popped right up. Connected the other end to the other computer, but had to go to Windows Explorer and double-click on the new CD-ROM drive icon. The laplink type file manager popped up, with dual panes, while the first computer converted from single pane to dual pane. Looks straight forward, no programs or drivers to install.

There's a similar device called the Tornado - also works between the USB ports of both machines and has a dual pane explorer type interface imbedded in the firmware of the device. I have a couple of them.
