I somehow got FF into some sort of full screen mode where I can't do anything except see Yahoo! No navigation bar, no nothing but the web page.

Pretty sure I hit some sort of keystroke that put it there. How the heck do I undo that? Nothing on a right click, no "configure" button, no nothing.

Chrome, that I"m using now, is fine.

Thanks!

That did it! Sure appreciate the help. Maybe you CAN teach an old dog new tricks?

ARF!

BTW, that is the "hotkey" for full screen mode. Works in most browsers on a PC...
I'm so weird I can run Winders without the rolling rodent pretty damn well.

Must be a great place to get to.

I'll check for a cheat sheet on the net. Would be a great thing to be able to pull up when I need to.

Again, thanks for the help.

Found this one (http://shortcutmania.com/Windows-Vista-Keyboard-Shortcuts-printable-cheatsheet.htm). It'll do for now, I think.

Yup, and most of those have been around for a long time. Ever "lose" a window offscreen?

Alt-Tab a few times to activate "focus" on the hiding window. Then Alt-F4 to close it, or "M" for move, and use the arrow keys to move it back onscreen. If the window is "maximized, usually you have to close it.

Now, read that in Apu's voice (from the Simpson's) and pretend you work for HP tech support.

Cool! Yep...lost windows off screen. Happens at the office when I"m using both the laptop screen and the monitor. When I take my computer to the lab, whatever was on the monitor is hiding!

Doesn't Windows allow you to have multiple desktops so you can just jump from one to another ?

Not without a 3rd party application. Seems some work OK, others not so well, and one is stuffed with malware:

I downloaded and ran this one...

http://code.google.com/p/mdesktop/

It works well, up to 10 desktops.

DO NOT use version 1.6, use version 1.5

Version 1.6 has something called OpenCandy, considered as adware.

Version 1.5 does not have this.

I'm used to multiple desktops as it is standard on Linux. Surprised it's not a standard part of windblows.

Microsoft had something for XP, part of their powertoys, called "Desktop Manager". Can set up different wallpaper for each screen.

Multiple desktops have been standard in OS X for some time now.

Multiple desktops have been standard in OS X for some time now.

It's a hold-over from when they used X11 (I think they switched WM's now); but they are turning it into something even better with the next iteration, if what I hear is true.

Actually, OS X never used X11. In fact, it took a couple of OS iterations before there was even a useful version of X11 available, which ran as a stand-alone app along with Apple's standard Aqua GUI. Now, they seem to have integrated it much more into the OS—when you run an X11 app, it at least appears to run using Aqua.

Thanks for the correction. However, IF what I hear is true, the next iteration will turn those multiple desktops into something better (I'm thinking dynamic numbers of desktops, using full-tile applications on each one).
