If you hear WX9ARX today, say howdy, I'll be on one of the radios there after 8AM.

I logged a PSK-31 QSO on 15 meters with WX9ARX (Tom) @ 1806 UTC 12-3-2011 :-)

I hope it was you KC9ECI... if so that's my first contact with an Islander!

I tried a phone contact on 20M but there was too much noise.

Not set up for PSK TX (yet...) but as far as A1 or A3 goes - name the band/frequency and I'll be happy to put you in the log.

One of my holiday vacation projects involves construction of a suitable PSK interface. Looks like a fun mode.

That was indeed me, I was the only one running digital modes. I was using my Flex 1500. I've done plenty of JT-65 with it, but this was the first time I'd used it for PSK and the first time I'd used DM-780 so if the QSO was a little rough around the edges, that's why.

Outstanding Tom :) !!! I'm glad it was you.

I'm fairly new to PSK-31 myself so don't feel bad. I want to get away from using just the macros and try actually carrying on a qso keyboard to keyboard.

Cool video!!! Thanks for posting that :) What a great setup you had there in the NWS Office!

I heard about this on one of the local repeaters. Apparently the local NOAA station ran through a list of repeaters yesterday making contacts. I heard them but I was too tired to get in there.

It's fun, I try to get up there for this every year. They cancelled last year due to weather. Jim, W9UUM shot that video with his iPhone. He was editing it on the thing to. Gonna have to get me one of those things. Here is a video I put together from the 2009 event.

The highlight of the 2009 event was a QSO via IRLP with the Goathiker.

You should be able to pull off a project like that in an single evening... It's a couple of diodes, a transistor, 2 resistors, a mic connector, 2 mono audio connectors, serial connector, and some wire.

A pair of 600:600 audio transformers for isolation helps too.

We were decoding PSK with the iphone held up next to the headphone speakers.

Maybe, but oft times, not required; if you are lacking any other station issues (Such as grounding problems).

If you need isolation transformers between two pieces of equipment, you have a floating ground somewheres.

More likely a ground loop which the transformers break. That's pretty much unavoidable since computers have three wire grounded power cords and isolating them with grounding adapters can lead to other issues.
