A colleague of mine once offered me some, and I knew it's precise origin even though I'm not a Scotch drinker: a 55-gallon drum in the back room of an abandoned Glaswegian shipyard. The aroma took me back to my college days, when I formed an close and enduring acquaintance with petroleum distillates and their chlorinated derivates.

Be not perplexed. I am perplexed. Who are these alleged newbies? I say they should be dragooned before the assembled Island misfits and required to identify themselves and state their curricula vitae. Upstarts, likely.

Check them out. We haven't sacrificed any virgins to the volcano lately and I'm starting to get a little nervous about that.

Ah, I remain perplexed, but now for the same reason you are. Why has the gauntlet not been formed and run? Without the bartender we run short of drink; are we now to be failing in discipline as well?

It's true what brother Carl says about the virgins. This is the first time I've ever seen a volcano with a woodie, and I don't mean a station wagon with surf boards on top, either.
