Hope they use good materials (mahogany, in this case?).

Eh, looks like a good deal to me providing the DDS has a good rep. Last crown I got was billed at about $1,100 and insurance thought $950 of that was legit.

I searched him locally and didn't find any negative comments. He's supposedly well regarded in the star (5 is best) categories although there were no individual patient comments.
Made an appt for next week. Cost for a molar crown $500 plus $26 X-ray. I'm going to ask for a 5% discount for cash which is common practice with the dentists around here.

Hey, if this guy likes to delve in Dick, who am I to judge as long as he sticks to sterile procedure?

I'll post the visit's outcome next week. I guess the slow economy is starting to cause these guys to crack.

If Idaho is like CO, you can look the guy's DDS license up online and see if any formal complaints have been lodged against it.

Looks like a good deal, Bill. I'd jump on it. (Lost count at 4 crowns here). My teeth really suck.

My sis was just quoted $8K for some major work, including 6 crowns.

Dentistry: it never gets cheaper or more painless. Get 'er done.

I have a lower molar that's almost all filling. Was told 7 years ago to get it capped, then again 2.5 yrs ago. The one opposite it broke last August. That crown + temporary fix (it happened while I was in Portland) ) cost me about $1k out of pocket. Better git while the gittin.....

I had this great dentist. His name was Ottinger and he had an office in Manhattan. He had two sickles he would ride in to work. One was a classic Harley Davidson.. The other was a Triumph 750.

Got the roto rooter job today. This guy had a definite used car salesman quality to him. The tooth was pretty bad, with a crack and some decay which needed $235 worth of "build up" after grinding it down. The damned thing is rather achy now and is sensitive to cold. Got my fingers crossed it will pass.
Total bill if the pain subsides:
x ray $26
filling/build up $235
Crown $500
