So I'm on this one year long promotional deal from Time Warner Cable where I get $52.99/mo broadband internet service for $39.99/mo. The time's up limit gets close so I call them to drop down a level but wish to do it in 3 weeks. "Sorry sir, we can only change the service the day you call."
Hey, no problem, I'll call back in 3 weeks, BTW, what is the cost of the lower service?
"$34.99/mo sir"
OK, thank you.
[3 weeks pass]
Hi, I wish to downgrade my service...
"That'll be $39.99/mo sir"
Oh yeah!?, I guess it went up since I called last... OK, I'll take it.
[a few days pass]
Hi, I was told 3.5 weeks ago basic service would be $34.99/mo to downgrade, then when I called 3 weeks later to do it, it was $39.99/mo which I accepted, but it has been wearing on me. Did the rate go up $5 for everyone in that 3 week window or is it just for me, what's going on here?
"Uh... ah, UH... let me check on that sir"
"Looks like whoever gave you that rate got it wrong but I can give you another 12 mos on the higher speed for the same $39.99 rate you've been paying if you agree to auto pay from your credit card (which means no more paper bills in the mail box)."
OK (sweetie), we got a deal.
