We have 22 million bicycles on 16.7 million people, most owning 2, and we all had our mishaps in the life we cycle, being clipped by other cyclists, cars, or jumping on the cycle missing the saddle and hit the crossbar, no need to go graphic is it?

;)

Ouch....

Now theres a story for the grandkids.

If that dude got hit where I think he got hit then grandkids may be an unjustified assumption...

You may be right, he sounded like a guy who took an Antelope to the nuts.

As Terry Pratchett would put it, "hoofed in the goolies."

Remember those Sturmey-Archer three-speed hubs? You know, the ones that had a very touchy adjustment? If that adjustment was off just a little bit...you found the fourth speed, NEUTRAL!!!! Imagine pedaling HARD, standing on the pedals and all of a sudden be in neutral? Not only did you wind up "riding the bar", there was a total loss of control, usually resulting in a really HARD knock on the noggin.

Only took me two of those to 1) Learn to NEVER pedal standing up in second gear and 2) BE VERY, VERY appreciative of deralleurs on bikes!
