View Full Version : Columbus Day...

W3MIV
10-10-2011, 06:21 AM
...a holiday celebrating one of the worst people ever to visit new lands. The damned eye-ties might have pushed harder and gotten a federal holiday set aside for Mussolini. Or, perhaps, the Spaniards might have bullied Congress to create a Conquistador Day.

All Columbus ever did was decimate native populations with diseases and enslave them for his masters in Europe.

Only in Amurika would we honor a white guy who was lost, who 'found' people who were not lost. I understand the male ego thing about not admitting being lost while traveling. Today, we should honor our founding fathers.

I truly and most sincerely mean this from the top to the bottom of my heart...

Fuck Christopher Columbus. Fuck him with all the native weaponry all the early nations could muster. Fuck him with all the previous history that was here LONG before his treacherous ass arrived...both native AND european...oh, AND polynesian/asian, etc...just plain fuck that guy, and his scoundrel crew.

He was not the first european, that is a well known fact since 1960. And above all else, he was nothing more than a white devil in a land only new to him...so what im trying to say is this.

Im not happy that my bank is closed today because of this asshole, my paycheck still hasnt cleared. Thanks, you fluffy-pantaloon wearing dick.

Ok gents, thanks for that podium...back to you. :)

But if it wasn't for Columbus we would have never found out the earth was round. And if it wasn't for Columbus America would never have been discovered and wouldn't be attacking the whole world today. Let's hear it for Columbus.

One presumes you mean "paisano," which is Spanish, not Italian. Ergo, Columbus was no paisano.

I believe it stems from the word "paesano" which in Italian means a person of a :"country" or "town" or "village"

It is actually from Latin, "pagus." The same corruption passed through French into Spanish, Portuguese, Italian.

RR on all counts, Albi, although Italian and Spanish are more closely related to each other than either one of them is to French. While I'm not fluent in any of them, I know a little Italian, a bit more Spanish and I studied French (pretty much against my will) when I was in middle school.

Anyone who is fluent in correct Spanish can pretty well understand written Italian & Portuguese if given time to ponder it, as well as take some decent jabs at French.

En Español (as well as French, Italian, Portuguese and probably some other Latin language I'm forgetting) all nouns are either masculine or feminine.
