Of course, if you were making five bucks a day back then you were doing pretty well.

I like the Model A better. Especially the rumble seat versions.

The later Model A could be had with a flathead V-8. Nifty little engine for its day; Ford manufactured it into the early Fifties with only incremental changes. My father's '49 Ford hardtop had one.

I had a couple of them. A 50 two door club coupe, and a 53 4 door. Both had 3 on the tree. Great little engines.

I checked out the Wikipedia page for the flathead Ford (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_flathead_V8_engine) and found this:

The Ford flathead V8 was licensed to other producers, including car and truck manufacturers in the Soviet Union. It was used by Simca in France until 1961 and in Brazil until 1964 for cars and until 1990 in the Simca Unic Marmon Bocquet military truck.

Until 1990? Who knew?

Actually, the first flathead was produced for the model 18 in 1932.

The Model A's only had 4 bangers.

Until 1990? Who knew?1990? Damn. Ford should have mounted it sideways and stuck it in the taurus or escort.

Nothing like the sound of a worked flathead with duel glass packs. Sounded great.

I remember when i had a major hardon for getting a '64 Nova and rebuilding it....but it would likely still be rusting along the side of my dads house to this day, along with all his shit.

Didn't Ford name the flathead engine after Lord Dimwit Flathead the Excessive?
