CME headed this way (http://spaceweather.com/), due to arrive late Wednesday or early Thursday. Sunspot number now up to 128, BTW, which I guess helps explain the activity on 10m.

I'm trying to find a place where I can get a clear and elevated view North. The one place we had was sold to a private entity that has blocked off all traffic leading to it. Doesn't look like the sky will be cooperating anyway.

Speaking of incoming: The UARS satellite is expected to de-orbit in the next couple days and create a fireball bright enough to be seen in daylight when it does.

Looking at the latest tracks, it appears the Europeans will have front-row seats - and the midwest U.S. may see nothing of it at all.

I'm going to start keeping a rig parked on 29.0 when in the shack. Maybe 29.6 FM as well - anyone here have the ability to use the mode?

FWIW, an area club has a repeater on 29.64 - it's PLed, though. I can hit the machine quite easily from my QTH.

As soon as I get back in the shack tonight I'll park an RX there. I have a tone encoder for my '751A but installing it requires disassembly and reassembly of the rig. Sounds like a winter project.
