View Full Version : Albi deserves an honorific

Albi should have a title of his own befitting his status as our resident word artist. Given his skills in both English and German, may I suggest Prose Meister?

Well, he did get suckered into being an Assistant Director for the Atlantic Division. Then again, he got out of it. So I guess he's not so dumb after all!

Somebody here tried to flatter me onto running for SW Division Director. I laughed. Not even a truck driver is that stoopid.

I believe that Albi shuns such recognition.

I agree 100%. I also suggest letting Albi pick the title - he'll come up with something way better than we ever could.

Me, too, only it was CT SCM. I think he was serious. I said ME? He said, yea, you know what you're doing. So I told him OK, so long as he'd accept the position of campaign manager & chief advisor. THANK GOD we figured out that I wasn't eligible, I live in NY State.

Somebody here tried to flatter me onto running for SW Division Director. I laughed. Not even a truck driver is that stoopid.Back when I was young and foolish, I got talked into accepting appointment as Section Traffic Manager. Next thing I know, I'm also now Assistant SM. Then the sitting SM told me that he planned to retire, would I run for the job? I was foolish enough to accept.

And then he suddenly changed his mind and decided not to retire. Almost on the spot, my "campaign staff" disappeared, and I was left with egg on my face, so to speak. After the election, someone new was ASM. And I also learned from my predeccesor as ASM that the same thing had happened to him.

Had to learn the hard way, but I learned. Never again. I don't want an appointment nor a title, let alone an elected office. Got burned once... and once is all I'll be burned .

Never again.

I am proud to say that I will never be eligible for any ARRL position, even the "bend over" ones. Ya gotta be a member..... and that will never happen. :neener:

I called him Thesaurus Rex one time and he almost had a meltdown before I could explain that I considered it a term of endearment.
Often has me looking up more words than any of my school teachers ever did.
Rather fun for me.

We tried that once before and nothing came of it. Besides, I believe that an honorary Island title should be bestowed by the Island Hoi Palloi, much as we did when we declared Terry (Rot) Island Poet Laureate.

Thenkyew for the posies, gents. I have been out of state yet again, doing the Great Delaware House Quest thing. Now close to a decision -- veddy close. Of course, I do not have the authority to make the final decision, you understand. It is my hope to have the authority delegated to me on a temporary basis. Very temporary, of course.

Remember, honored confrères, words are merely bunches of letters, just as bouquets are just bunches of flowers. At times the bent dandelion outshines the loftiest camellia.

Ah, yes, Albi but there's a bouquet:

We're going to name Albie as the island Herb?

Too familiar. Courtesy demands the use of Island Herbert as a minimum. I much prefer my present appellation, which is far more euphonious than the abrupt and somewhat curmurous Herb or the clattering Herbert.

One of my least favorite episodes. But then, those space hippies would probably call me a Herbert. This is a subject deserving of a thread (of disgust) of it's own.

Which episode of ST:TOS's 3rd and last season is the worst?

The (space hippies) Way to Eden?
Spock's Brain?
The Enterprise Incident?
And The Children Shall Lead?
Spectre of the Gun (at the OK Corral in space!)?
Plato's Stepchildren? (has nothing to do with Plato's Retreat)
The Mark of Gideon?

And all the rest.

Horrors! Horrors all! Bad writing and cheesy sets and budget cuts, all meant to kill a show because the network suits couldn't stand the fact that the viewers demanded it! (And then they went back and discovered that they'd been reading their demographics wrong, that they'd actually killed off what should have been considered a hit sho!)
