View Full Version : Wanted, but not immediately
Since it looks as if I'm going to be going back out on the road in an 18-wheeler again within the next month or so, I will be in the market for a used IC-706 (Mk II or Mk IIG), Yaesu 857 or other compact HF rig suitable for mobile use. Thing is, I can't spring for it until I have an income again so I'm asking that if you have one you decide you want to sell sometime between October 1 and the end of the year and can hold off selling it right away, please let me know. I'll send you a deposit to hold it for me until I can pay the entire amount.
Thanks.

Yeah, thanks, I'm gonna need it. I am not looking forward to climbing back into the cab at all.

Don't blame you, but it beats no paycheck.

The price of a new one right now hovers around $1000.00
$999 + maybe $20 ship and handle.
The problem is - you want to buy it on a IF.
Most swap meets - you buy it on a if - if it works?
Your best bet, being on a tight budget is to save your money and buy a new one when you can afford it - hence you will get a years warranty and not be out anything if there is any issues down the road.
ON the other hand, if you would like to buy a MFJ 949E that reads backwards for $60.00 plus ship, I would be glad to hold it for you. HI HI..

I'd like to get one of those with a hammer and sickle flag face plate, just to yank people's chains.

WDYHA? ;)
Hey Carl..this still open fer ya?
I have an FT 897 bought new in 2005 (I think I'll have to check recpts on that) that I will definitely work with you on the cash flow end. Due to all my knee issues I have not been able to do much in the barn for about a year. There may be small animals living in there now who the eff knows. I should be busting out of my bracing on 9/16....hope to get back to work on 9/26...so I should be able to start dicking around in the barn first of October...
Anyhoo I am slowly coming back and I'm gonna redo the thing, eventually...so iffen the time frame still holds I might have something here for ya.

I'd like to get a nice example of an early to mid 80's ComBloc HF receiver/transmitter pair or transceiver then use it to check into the Drake and Collins nets.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

No excuses.
My thanks to all who have made offers of equipment but I received a phone call completely out of the blue this afternoon and it's looking like I might not have to get back out in a truck after all. Well, actually, I will be in a truck but as an driving instructor, not a driver, and I'll be home every night. I haven't signed on the dotted line yet but once I pass the physical and pee in the cup, I should be starting on a new career by the middle of next week.
