Get a phone call last night from my stepfather...my mom was transported to the hospital with extremely difficult breathing.
She is in Tucson, I was in Indianapolis. A whole bunch of tests later...and quite a bit of.Lasix...she is getting a pacemaker tomorrow. I sure wish I was there instead of here in 3-land at the moment....

Sucks to be far away from your family when you're needed.
Good to see she is helped so fast, another ham here got his pacemaker a few years back and it really made the difference.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for her.

Take care now.

Add me to the list, got mine last month and now I can walk more than 50' before "hitting the wall".

"I'll keep my fingers crossed for her."
If your next post looks all messed up we'll know why.

Damn! I'm with Cor. It does suck when you're far away and feeling helpless as someone close to you is in trouble. I think it is worse when it is your mother. You have my very best wishes for a swift and successful return from hospital for your mom.

Thanks for the heads up.
She will be pleasantly surprised what change for the better the pacemaker will make.
Hoping she recovers fast though.

Here's the latest: Pacemaker in, set @70 bpm now. She has lost 18 lbs. since she was admitted (presumeably water). She sounds MUCH better on the phone...just waiting for doctors to sign her off to go home.

Looks like the pacemaker has it;'s effect.
Bad heart can keep water in the body, so this is really good news.
Well done to the doctors/hospital.

Great news, Kevin!

The wife's cousin is going through the same deal right now, only she's getting both a pacemaker and a defibrillator. I made comments about The Six Million Dollar Woman—"we can rebuild her. We have the technology."

I wonder.....how much is the $6 million dollar man worth now, factoring in inflation?
